About RMFRA
The RMFRA was founded in 2007 to help promote rats as loving companions and loving pets, we are a dedicated of rat breeders, owners and lovers who's main mission is to promote the rat.
Our breeders strive to breed their rats for excellent healthy, outstanding temperaments, and longevity. They do so by selectively pairing each rat with the best possible partner, many of our breeders have many different rat lines to ensure they have enough diversity to keep each line healthy and fresh.
The main goal for the RMFRA is to encourage people to buy from breeders, and to rescue any rats in need. Many of us believe that any animals sold in a pet store and marked up prices should be banned and not allowed, Even though we do encouraging rescuing rats from feeder bins, pet stores and etc. Our breeders never breed rats from such an establishment since the unknown back rounds of such animals could cause many defects in their hard worked lines, like cancer, myco, SDA/KRV and etc.
Even though the RMFRA may not hold any shows until we have a bigger membership base, we do try to advertise upcoming shows that are forming around the USA; they are either hosted by fellow rat clubs, Associations, Organizations and etc. When taking interest in shows the RMFRA encourages every member to follow showing procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of your pet rats.
If you’re looking for a friendly group of rat lovers, owners and breeders who can help and make new friends then I highly encourage you to join our club. We invite every rat lover, owner, and breeder to join. We are slowly growing and hopefully by the next few years we will have enough members in and around our registered states to host small shows. But as always the RMFRA is here to promote the rat as a whole as a better, smaller pocket pet for people who can’t have dogs, cats, and are scared of smaller pets like hamsters, gerbils, mice and etc that may bite. Rats are the least likely pocket pet to bite. Therefore they are the better alternative for younger children.
Thank you for visiting our site and hopefully we will see you as a member.
Janine - RMFRA President.
